Planet Crasis at ConCentric 2024
This year I shall be running Planetfall! at ConCentric 2024. Planetfall! is the introductory scenario to my “classic” D&D campaign Planet Crasis: Bronze Blades.
Across the continent of Athanor, the mithril swords of Law clash against the blood-bronze axes of Chaos. Blood-bronze is an alloy of “azite”: a chaos-substance from space. The Wild Hunting Lands is rich in azite strikes, attracting ambitious treasure-seekers who slink and skirmish to obtain a precious rock for wealth, power or esoteric uses. Come and stake your claim!

Contend with warbands from Irngard, the scintillating Silverglade tribe, the Kib death-cult, Azurite Lapidarian chaos dwarves, necromancers from Hydrapur and other chaos peoples as they scramble to hoard the weird substance first.
This scenario is scheduled for five hours but there are greatly many more hours worth of adventuring available if the main scenario concludes before then and players are amenable. The ruleset is Old School Essentials (“OSE”) with the Advanced Fantasy Player’s Tome for character options.
Beyond the rules available in these books, I run a custom alignment mechanic that attempts to bring alignment back to its swords & sorcery roots. Learning the cosmic mysteries of Athanor’s gods and demons allows you align yourself to law or chaos and thereby attune yourself to extra-telluric mithril or blood-bronze weapons respectively. (And so my campaign names “Silver Swords” and “Bronze Blades” took shape.)
You won’t need a copy of these rules: rules and tables shall be provided in your player character booklets.
(But for those who are curious…) The core OSE rules are 100% identical to Moldvay Basic/Cook Expert D&D and almost entirely identical (divergence at higher levels) to Mentzer’s BECMI/Allston’s Rules Cyclopedia: you’re free to use any of these for reference in the game. I’ll be borrowing DM procedures from OD&D-Rules Cyclopedia-AD&D 1e-the OSR at large.
